Inaugural Meeting September 28th --- UPDATE

22 People attended the first meeting of the St Mary's Historical Society of Metchosin. There was a short presentation followed by a discussion about how to proceed. There was a general consensus that the old Church and property would be a valuable amenity for the people of Metchosin and that the site was worth saving for the historical value alone. All in attendance agreed to become members of the society and do what they could to help the project advance. The meeting was adjourned with the promise to meet again in late November.

The Society has been formed to help care for and preserve the historic St. Mary the Virgin Church, Parish Hall, cemetery, and grounds at 4354 Metchosin Road. We will share our vision for this remarkable heritage site, explain the next steps in the process, and invite your questions and ideas.

For more than 150 years, this place has been part of the story of Metchosin. Now we have an opportunity to help shape its next chapter, ensuring that its history, buildings, cemetery, and grounds are cared for and remain a valued part of the community for generations to come.
